Nigeria: Singapore Firm Agreed Deal To Invest U.S.$100 Million In Akwa Ibom


A based Investment organization, Singapore has signed a deal worth $100 million with Akwa Ibom State Government on infrastructural expansion, consolidation and agricultural development in the state. At Governor office ,Uyo where the deal was approved . Udom Emmanuel said his administration are ready to developed a formidable economic foundation to all area in the state. Emmanuel respond that Ashdene Group has already succeed business in about twenty-nine countries in the world and decided to help Akwa Ibom state in Agricultural, infrastructural and industrialization. 

Akwa Ibom Governor was happy with the Ashdene group for helping the state to their destination investment and infrastructural expansion. Udom said the company to establish rice farm , processing mill, coconut plantation and construction of roads in the communities at Ini Local Government Area. 

"I want to assure you that this is a government that is investors friendly, our policies, strategies, focus center on investments. Be rest assured that the responsibilities of government in the agreement signed would be duly executed. "We are not ignorant of the environment that you need for investment like this to grow and we are determined to create the right opportunity for your investment to thrive", he said. 

Dr Patrick Adiel, The Country Director of Ashdene Association Nigeria said that the State has none profit organization to explore the abundant agricultural resources to help create wealth and start up employment opportunities that will affect peoples life positively. After seven day when the deal have been approved , the company will start the rice project about 10 hectares of land in which $100 million will be invested. said Adiel. 

He added that the company also approved the investion of Coconut Plantation, Refinery project and Construction of road and bridge. Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem,The Commissioner for investment, Commerce and Industry said in an interview that the state has started reaping from the investment and later the farmer will smile with the bank as value has been added to their occupation.
